My wife of 37 years is dying of an incurable disease. I watch her die every day. She looks like a skeleton with skin. I am powerless to do anything. I’m praying for God to be merciful and let her die. “Jesus, you are merciful. Show your mercy and take her to heaven, to be with you. End her suffering. That’s mercy.” It’s also mercy on me because I hurt every time I look at her emaciated body and treat her sores that don’t heal and get infected.
Is it appropriate to ask the God who gave her life 66 years ago to take her life now? What is the will of God? Should I pray, “Jesus, if it’s your will, take her to heaven to be with you.”
My hope is she will live until our 38th anniversary 8/15/2025, but I don’t want her to suffer anymore. I want her to go to heaven and see Jesus, her father, my parents, and other friends who are already there, and wait for me to come.
